With a spectacular concert by world-renowned artists Stefan Milenković and Slobodan Trkulja, last night, July 25th 2019, Banja Luka marked the completion of the first renovation of the Cultural Centre “Banski dvor” since 1930s and the submission of Banja Luka 2024 Application for the European capital of Culture.
More than 10.000 citizens of Banja Luka had a unique opportunity to hear the joint performance of these two artists accompanied by the Banja Luka Philharmonic and musicians from Bihać and Jajce, partner cities on this project.
Mayor of Banja Luka, Igor Radojičić, pointed out that the concert was held under the official slogan of BL 2024 Application – “Opposites Attract” – which, in this case, depicts two different genres that these artists perform in and two different styles. He expressed confidence that Banja Luka has the capacity, people and resources to carry the flattering title of European Capital of Culture in 2024.
“This event is also interesting because Milenković and Trkulja performed together for the first time. In fact, they just met, here, in Banja Luka. The candidacy of Banja Luka 2024 is the largest project and a voyage the City has ever had in the field of culture and art. After the complex process of preparation, which lasted since spring 2017, the application has been completed and the Bidding Book will soon be sent to Brussels. A city of rich history, such is ours, offers us many opposites that are drawn together.”, the mayor Radojičić said.
